“Blackouts”…

As this is an issue that comes up a lot when Wegolf subscribers contact us and after many discussions in our own Saturday fourball, I thought it best to create the following post concerning what you must do if you don’t score points on the IPS system on a hole…

According to http://www.saga.co.za/38/handicapping , the following must happen when you get a “blackout” on a hole: If you don’t stroke on a hole you write a bogey for 0 points. And not a double bogey as was the rule for a while.

Before Wegolf can have a version that reflects the way South Africans keep score it is important to hear from our SA users what system they follow when getting a blackout on a hole…

For example: If you have  a 15 handicap and you play a Par 3, stroke 18

We are constantly trying to  improve on the Wegolf offering. Please help us to know what you would like to see in future versions of Wegolf by taking part in this poll. Your input is appreciated…(You can tick more than one option :) )

Currently in the Wegolf application, you have to enter one more than what you can play for 1 point on any hole where  you get a “blackout”. It took me a while to get used to the Wegolf way of scoring, as us golfers in SA just write the strokes for 1 point with a ring around it.

So the Wegolf score is often more than the score that we enter on the scorecard that we hand in for our handicap at the club (Depending on how many “blackouts” you get during a round). After thinking about it, I actually like the Wegolf way of scoring (Your score for 1 point +1) if you get a “blackout”.  Let’s see what you think…
